What we collect, why, and how it's protected — including special care for student data.
1. Information we collect
- Account information: name, email or phone number, school level, and selected curriculum.
- Usage data: questions asked, quiz and flashcard performance, session history, and study streaks, used to power long-term memory and progress tracking.
- Submitted content: photos of questions, PDFs you open in the smart viewer, and voice audio during live tutor calls (including screen or camera sharing, when you choose to enable it).
- Device and technical data: device type, app version, and approximate location (network-level), used for performance and security.
2. How we use information
We use this information to provide tutoring responses, personalise practice to your history, run real Google Search grounding for time-sensitive questions, maintain your resource library, process subscription payments, and improve curriculum accuracy over time.
3. Children's privacy
Many of our users are minors. Where a user is a child, we rely on the involvement of a parent or guardian in setting up and overseeing the account, and we limit data collection to what's needed to provide tutoring. Parents or guardians can contact admin@topscoreapp.ai to review, correct, or request deletion of a child's data at any time.
4. Third-party services
We use third-party infrastructure to operate the Service, including cloud hosting, AI model providers, and — for time-sensitive questions — real-time Google Search results. These providers process data on our behalf and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes.
5. Data retention
We retain account and study-history data for as long as your account is active, so long-term memory and progress tracking can work as intended. You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time.
6. Data security
Study history and personal information are encrypted in transit and at rest. Access to student data internally is limited to what's needed to operate and support the Service.
7. Your rights
You (or a parent/guardian on behalf of a minor) may request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal data by emailing admin@topscoreapp.ai. We will respond within a reasonable time in line with Kenya's Data Protection Act, 2019.
8. Cookies and similar technologies
Our website uses essential cookies required for the site to function (such as remembering your cookie preference). If we enable analytics in the future, we will use it to understand aggregate traffic patterns rather than to identify individual visitors, and this policy will be updated accordingly before it goes live. We do not use third-party advertising cookies, and we do not sell personal data to advertisers.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the Service evolves. Material changes will be communicated in-app or via email where possible.
