Why we built TopScore AI
A private tutor is still the most effective way to learn — someone who notices exactly where your understanding breaks down and adjusts in real time. But a private tutor is also expensive, and only available for the hours they can spare. Most students in Kenya never get that kind of attention, no matter how much they need it.
We built TopScore AI to close that gap. Not with a chatbot that dumps answers, but with a tutor that behaves the way a good human tutor would: asking the next question, drawing the diagram, checking your reasoning against the actual curriculum you're sitting — CBC, 8-4-4/KCSE, or Cambridge IGCSE.
What we believe
- Understanding beats answers. A fact you were guided to is worth more than one you were handed. Our tutor teaches through questions first.
- Accuracy is non-negotiable. Every explanation is checked against real curriculum standards and real diagrams — never improvised.
- Learning is visual. Some ideas only click when you can see them. We treat diagrams as core to teaching, not decoration.

We're based in Nairobi, close to the classrooms, the curricula, and the students we build for. That closeness shapes every decision — from which past papers we prioritise to how the app behaves on a patchy connection.
Where we're going
